The general difference between Control Flow & Data Flow is that Control Flow invokes Data Flow. But there are more points of difference between them.
Control Flow:
- Control Flow does all the non-ETL activities. It means all the activities where Extraction Transformation Loading is not required are done by Control Flow. The activities include sending an Email message, executing a SQL Statement, copying a file from an FTP server.
- Control Flow is used to co – ordinate the execution of tasks simultaneously.
Data Flow:
- Data Flow does all the ETL activities. It means all the activities which contain process like Extraction Transformation Loading.
- The activities include all the tasks where we have to define the Source and Destination.
